The group consists of David Austin Grey (piano/compositions), Sam Wooster (trumpet), Nick Jurd (double bass) & Jim Bashford (drum kit).
On occasion GQ are also joined by MOBO award winner and Mercury Prize nominee Soweto Kinch (alto saxophone) creating a vibrant and dynamic front line. Other guest artists include vocalist Jason McDougall, and New York based emcees ‘iLLspokinn’ & ‘Why G?’
GQ play entirely original music written by pianist and band leader David Austin Grey. This music, whilst set firmly in the contemporary jazz idiom, draws influences from hip-hop, rock, minimalism and modern classical music.
Presently the band are performing a project entitled ‘The Dark Red Room’. This is a set of compositions inspired by film, photography and cinema. The project also has scope to include live visuals. An album of the music has been recorded and is available for purchase NOW!

The band has received a lot of positive feedback and support from fans as well as many key figures within the arts. GQ will continue to create original music and endeavour to make strong artistic developments in the direction of jazz, and contemporary improvisation.
